“Elijah is Coming”

Have you ever heard the word Israel so many times as in the last few years? The news is replete with it. Today we would like to look at a few details in the Bible about the nation of Israel. I have thought for years on this subject and why the entire world at times has all but abandoned Israel in its dire situation. I mean after all they are the Jews of the Old Testament aren’t they?

The answer is yes, but times have changed since the Lord himself came and the Jews turned their back on Him. After the Lord ascended into Heaven and called the Apostle Paul to go to the Gentiles, things began to change for the Jewish Nation. If the Nation Israel was obedient to the Lord, He blessed them.  Deuteronomy 28:13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken to the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and do them: (Then they were the head, today they are the tail.)

Notice what happens if they, The Nation Israel, does not obey the Lord.

Deuteronomy 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statues which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

16 Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. 17 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. 18 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 19Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and when thou goest out. 20 The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until  thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

And it goes on for 68 more verses......all of them curses.  Throughout the Old Testament the Nation Israel turned their back on the Lord, over and over again. The would build groves and begin to worship idols or other gods. Even when the Lord would destroy them, eventually he would also restore them. If the leader of Israel would turn the Nation back to the Lord, He would hear them, as when in Egypt. The Lord also delivered them out of Babylon. But when the Nation Israel rejected God when he came unto them as the Lord himself, God almighty turned his back on them as a NATION. Jerusalem was destroyed in A.D. 70 By Titus and the Roman army. They laid Jerusalem to the ground and that was the end of the Nation Israel.

Today God has given the Gentiles a time of salvation known as the Dispensation or period of Grace. The Nation Israel exists in the eyes of the World and the United Nations... But it is not the Restored Nation of Israel in the eyes of God. Before the Nation of Israel can exist in God’s eyes, He must first restore them... Think they are restored?? Do you really think God is blessing Israel today? Is he supernaturally protecting them? Is Israel as a Nation turning back to God? Let’s have a look at a few scriptures.

When John the Baptist was in the wilderness the word of the Lord came to him to preach into all the country of Jordan. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

The people of that time were looking for the one with the voice crying in the wilderness, who was to be Elijah, had the Nation Israel accepted the Lord at that time. But they did not so he will come in the future...

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: And the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, Mal. 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the great and dreadful day of the Lord: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, And the heart of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophecy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 these are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire procedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. Notice the two olive trees. Olive trees represent Israel. This is Elijah and Moses. They have come to restore all things for the Nation Israel. Notice the amount of time they will be on earth. 1260 days. 42 months. The tribulation is 7 years or 84 months. These two witnesses will be here for half of that period. Then the antichrist will kill them. Notice immediately after that in Rev. 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: The Nation Israel. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who  was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up to the throne.( Jesus. )    6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.  1260 days again, 42 months. 3 1/2 years, the last half of the tribulation.(Israel)

After this the Lord will bring Israel unto him and us to reign in the 1000 year millennium. The Lord will protect them,  these that are in the wilderness. It is only a remnant. That will be the New Nation Israel. The Nation Israel is not yet, That is why the were nearly annihilated in world war 2 by Hitler and his henchmen. It is also why everyone that is bordering them are trying  to destroy them today. One day in the future Elijah will come to restore them, until then , pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

Do the work of an Evangelist.
