You realize that Jesus was certainly healing people and after
he left he empowered the Apostles with works greater than his.
They could heal, raise the dead, heal the lepers. Why can it
not be done now as in those days? There are many churches out
there who think they have these powers and just as many people
believe they do. They use the verses and these books in the
Bible out of context and claim all these things they cannot
claim for this day. Why? They draw a crowd... And crowds have
MONEY. I am so sorry to say this but at times I wish they would
go off the air. Again I’m saying God can heal you today.
But I am sure it is not through the current theatrical shows
on television these days.
That verse you just read in John was to the 12 Apostles, they
were sent by the Lord on the Great Commission. They were to
go to Jerusalem, then Judea then the uttermost parts of Samaria
and THEN and ONLY THEN to the rest of the world. AFTER all the
Jews were saved. Read it and see for yourself. Don’t ever
take anyone’s word on the Bible, it is your and others'
salvation at stake here. Those Gospels of Mathew Mark and John
were to the Jews and those who feared God and worked righteousness
and blessed the Nation Israel AT THAT TIME. If you had been
alive back then, you were not permitted to be in the covenants
of promise as it says in Ephesians "Without hope and without
God in the world." We were considered dogs by the Jews
at that time. I don’t think our image has improved much
to most of them today either.
It was a Religion and there were specific laws set down to
come through the Nation Israel to be in the covenants of promise
back then and it was more than just the 10 commandments, it
included a blood sacrifice by the priests and all the Levitical
laws. The same preachers that teach you that they can heal you,
why don’t they teach you all those other requirements
also?
Whither the people who have all been healed on these programs?
How is it these same preachers and Heal-Evangelists cannot go
to the hospitals and get those sick and dying up out of their
beds? There are a lot of things out there that are not right
today and I don’t claim to have all the answers either.
But you can’t just go reaching into the Bible and making
things work the way you want them to for your benefit. They
will have their part at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Those healings and miracles were for the Jews, for a sign to
believe. 1 Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews require
a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
The salvation of today is not based upon signs. It is Grace,
not of works, signs and miracles. However, again I say there
are people being healed today and there are certainly miracles
of God here with us today, but by and large they are not being
wrought by the hands of these Movie Stars on television.
I have an Aunt who has been like a mother to me for...my entire
life. She was badly beaten in the 1950s and she lost her hearing,
also one of her eyes was about to be lost—not to mention
the physical scars. She went to a tent revival in Detroit Michigan
and sat down there and prayed for healing. She said she felt
it instantly, and if there was ever a person on this earth I
could believe, it would be her. I have watched her since I was
a toddler give unending love and compassion to my family, strangers
and people in the Church. I have never heard her say anything
bad about anybody. She has lived her ENTIRE life for the Lord,
still is today and still will be tomorrow if the Lord lets her
live. She will give you her testimony in a moment. She cries
when she talks about the Lord...every time. She LOVES the Lord.
Is it real? Yes, I am thoroughly convinced it is.
What then? I don’t have all the answers. But it would
seem to me that the Lord chooses people who have been through
these situations to be a testimony for him on this earth. Do
you know that the Apostle Paul could NOT heal at the end of
his ministry? Did you know that? 1 Timothy 1:22
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s
sins: Keep thyself pure. 23 Drink no longer
water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and
thine often infirmities. Timothy was sickly at the end of their
ministry and look what Paul told him to do. Why didn't he just
heal him? He couldn’t.
Let’s look at another one. 2 Timothy 4:20
Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum
sick. He couldn’t heal him. Healing was slowly phased
out at the end of the Ministry of the Apostle Paul. People don’t
have those powers today, only the Lord does. And Man does not
dictate to God where when and how God will heal them. God will
heal you if it is in his overall plan to do so but it cannot
be wrought by claiming this verse or that today.
The Church which is the body of Christ will be taken out of
here someday and then there will come on this world those who
can work miracles and bring fire down from Heaven. Two of them
will be Elijah and Moses, to show the Jews a sign again. The
other will be... The False Prophet.
Thank you for being with us today. Read your Bible, pray and
believe God can heal you and perhaps he will, I pray if you
are in need of healing today. This be the day your are truly
healed, In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
