1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye
should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the
cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were baptized unto
Moses in the cloud and in the sea; Ok, is that ok? Now why did
they have to do that? They had become a nation of Priest called
out of Egypt by God. God spake to Moses and said, Exodus 19:5
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my
covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above
all people: for all the earth is mine. 6 And ye shall be unto
me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words
which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. Are they
a nation of Priests? Yes, they were.
Ok, why did they have to be baptized? Because they were priests;
that was an Old Testament Ordination. Watch: Exodus 40:7 And
thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the
ark of the Testimony, and put the hanging in the door of the
tabernacle. 8 And thou shalt set up the court round about, and
hang up the hanging at the court gate. 9 And thou shalt take
the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is
therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof and
it shall be holy. 10n And thou shalt anoint the altar if the
burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar:
and it shall be an altar most holy.11 And thou shalt anoint
the laver and his foot, and sanctify it. 12 And thou shalt bring
Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle and wash
them with water. You see, this was an ordination to become a
priest.
Ok, the children were a nation of priests, but they went into
apostasy, when the Lord came, he was calling a New Nation, to
take it away for the ones who had gone into apostasy. That is
why He was training the 12 Apostles. All Jews under Old Testament
Ordinances and Law.
Why did the Pharisees ask John the Baptist if he was Elijah?
Because he was baptizing people with water. Why were they worried
or puzzled about that? The Pharisees knew that Jesus was foretold
in the Old Testament and that he would be foreshadowed by Elijah,
who must first come and restore all things and because when
they saw him baptizing they knew that was an ordinance only
for PRIESTS, and that’s exactly what he was doing. The
New Nation Israel was being born, The New Testament Church,
Jews only. (sorry)
1 Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks
seek after wisdom.
The Jews require a sign; it is noted over and over in the scriptures.
What was the sign of Christ’s coming, the Messiah? To
John the Baptist it was this: John 1:31 And I knew him not:
but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore I am
come baptizing with water. 32 And John bare the record, saying,
I saw the spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it
abode on him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to
baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt
see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, the same
is he which baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Folks, it was a sign to the Nation Israel, He was to be manifest
to the Nation Israel. Jesus Christ is Israel’s Great High
Priest; He was confirming the promises made to the fathers in
the Old Testament scriptures. He is identified to the Nation
Israel by water baptism. That ended when all the people that
were in that New Church were killed as martyrs and witnesses.
That New Nation ceased to exist for now because we live in the
dispensation of Grace: no law, no ordinances, no commandments,
we are saved by Grace through faith not of works, signs and
miracles.
One day in the future, our time here will be over and the dispensation
of Grace will be no more, we will be raptured and the New Nation
of Israel will begin right where it left off after it was destroyed
in A.D. 70. At the end of the tribulation, the 12 Apostles Jesus
Trained while He was on the earth will sit on 12 thrones, each
judging a tribe of Israel for a total of 12. The great High
Priest Will be Jesus Christ and the Apostles will be in Jerusalem.
It will be Jewish again and they will be exalted above all the
kingdoms on Earth again. We will not be in that physical Kingdom,
New Jerusalem, The Bride, etc, that is not ours, we will be
REIGNING with Christ. Water baptism is not for us today and
if you read the bible and rightly divide the word of truth you
will see it for yourself: the only thing baptism can get you
today...is wet.
We walk by Faith, Not by sight.
Shalom.
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem,
michael
