STANDFAST
Sept. 16, 2004

Hello, and thank you for coming today. I would like to extend a hand of fellowship to all that visit this site. I would to be able to look into your eyes as I say these things to you, but it is a big world and we can’t be everywhere at once.

I would like to give you some scripture today to ponder during the week, maybe on your way to work or just in your spare time. Would you please all examine yourselves and see the truth in these scriptures today? Remember, these are the Words of God...

I would also like to say a special welcome to all the new members as of late. We will continually pray for your faith to increase as you learn the Word of God and apply it to your life. Our aim here is to build people up in the faith, not only for themselves but to go and witness that they may lead others to the Lord.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

The bondage spoken of here is the law, the 10 Commandments, all the levetical laws or the first five books of the Bible. Really folks, there are a lot of them. Don’t let anyone (or any religious system) ever convince you that you can keep all these and be "good" enough someday in the eyes of the Lord that this will save you. The only "Good" person that ever walked the face of this earth was the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and He was the only one to ever keep the law, make no mistake about it.

5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

If you get nothing else out of this today, read that last verse again and memorize it; it is overwhelming. "Whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." I have taught this over and over and people get fighting mad about it. People just won't believe that Christ did everything that needed to be done for you at Calvary, He took away the law and nailed it to the Cross, you are FREE.

5:5 For we through the spirit wait for the hope of the righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that you should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that you will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

Paul is talking to the Galatians, who had been led away by Judaizers, or the religious system of that day. Paul had taught them the truth of the cross and they were ok for a while, but as he said "a little leaven leaveth the whole lump." Some of the Judaizers got in to them and turned them from grace and had them all back under the law again. It is happening all over the world today and will continue until the Lord takes us out of here. Notice what else he told the Galatians in verse 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that called you.

The persuasion for them to go back under the law didn’t come from the Lord. If you are being persuaded today to keep the law, then it didn’t come from the Lord today either... Sorry...

5:11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

The offense of the cross was, it was a terrible place, a place of shame and reproach, it was where our sins were placed on the Lord and He died for them in our stead. He pardoned us and there are those today who try to teach you to keep the law when it cannot save you and ignore what really happened on the cross in A.D. 33. Don’t listen to them....

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
