Body of the Sins of Our Flesh
Hope everyone had a good week and I'm thankful you have come to read with us today. This is a message I don't hear much of in the Church today and I think it is important for all of us to know what happened at the Cross when the lord Said, "It is Finished." I will do the best I can and I would like you to know that what I'm about to write is one of the most important steps in knowing who you are in Christ and how important and highly favored you are by the Lord, if you're saved.
The Apostle Paul had a great deal revealed to him in a rapture of some type when he was stoned in the book of Acts, he recalls throughout his Epistles the things revealed to him that know one else ever has received from the Lord. The following was a great example of that very thing.
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not of Christ.
Paul wrote this when he had learned of the state of the Church of the Colossians. They were trying to teach that you had to have faith in Christ, AND manmade practices that were physical, i.e., circumcision, eating, drinking, and observance of religious festivals, to be saved. They were very similar to the Galatians after Paul had taught them the truth and heard later that Judaizers had come in on them and contained them to go back under the law. The verses also point out to watch for vain philosophy and deceit, which if you turn on your TV. it won't take you long to see the very same thing is happening all over the World today. I'm talking about highly educated men of the cloth, seminary-proven and Ph.D.-carrying Doctors of the Bible.
Folks, I'm telling you now, they don't impress me; they used to until I learned the Truth. I could not understand how so many people flock to these "learned" pastors and teachers. Week after week and so on, how is it they can know so much of the Bible and still not know how to rightly divide the Word of Truth as they are told to do in 2 Timothy 2:15? How is it they never progress out of the Great Commission or the Gospel of the Kingdom, which does not include anywhere-forgiveness for your sins? It's either ignorance or it's intentional to keep people under religious rules so they have to keep walking the aisle. I suspect it has more to do with putting money in the plate than anything else, and in spite of the fact that you are told that all your sins are forgiven if you believe that Christ paid for all your sins at Calvary.
Maybe you are one of those, did you know ALL your sins were paid for? If you don't, then I ask you to prayerfully read the books of Romans through Philemon, that's where you're going to find spiritual growth for your life today, it is also the only place you are going to find the Gospel that tells you if you believe it, that your sins are all paid for. Preachers don't know it and if they do they don't want to let you know about it because they are afraid that you will quit going to their assembly.
Back to the body of Sins.
Ok, let's continue.
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
One more thing, if when you are saved, you are complete in Him, what else can be added? What else can you need? These things are spiritual and you must claim them and accept them by faith, until the day we are taken out of this World.
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ:
Folks when the sky turned dark on Calvary on that day I want you to see what happened there.
Mark 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying ELOI, ELOI, SABACHTHANI? which is, being interpreted, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
In those hours while the sky was dark, your sins and mine were placed upon the Lord, and as such, God had to turn His back on His Son because our sins were on Him. God had to turn away and let Christ die because we could not be redeemed unless He died.
Something else happened there that day, verse 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the ghost. 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain for the top to the bottom. 39 And the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he cried out so and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
As sure as anything, the centurion and one of the thieves were saved that day as well as all of us. But I want you to see what happened in the Temple. The veil was rent from top to bottom, that was done on purpose because if you read how the veil was made and how thick it was, it had to be rent By Almighty God. That signified that the Law was removed as far as you and I are concerned, but you would never find that out unless the Lord revealed it to the Apostle Paul later. Folks, a LOT of things happened at the Cross that day, a LOT.
The Lord told the Apostles when they asked Him for a sign, The Lord said, Matt. 29:39 But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whales belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Folks, the Lord went down into hell and represented each one of us He died for and somewhere between the time our sins were placed on the Lord and he rose from the lower parts of the earth, God as it were performed an operation on the Lord called "the circumcision made without hands." God the Father cut away all the sins of the people He died for in one lump, called The body of the sins of the flesh. The lord only knows where they went; they can never be brought up against you again, never, ever. They're all gone; Christ made us free.
Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
I want to mention that is spirit baptism, the baptism of death, no water in the verse.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
I want you to know today, you are FREE; you are an adopted child of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved!
Amen.
